Narcissists don’t choose losers. They want fantastic people that make them look good or they can benefit from in some way. So you were deliberately chosen for all the good in you.
Unfortunately narcissists are jealous people and the reason they chose you are the same reason they resent you for later. They hate that you have beautiful gualities, or have lived a good life before them, or anything they don’t have and never will have.
That is partly why you feel like they hate and resent you. They can’t see anyone have more than them.
